Construction Manager

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a Construction Manager to lead and coordinate construction activities within a high-priority, large-scale infrastructure modernization environment. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role is responsible for managing the Construction Contractor (Design-Build and/or CMAR) and acting as the primary liaison for all pre-construction and construction activities. The Construction Manager will lead safety, security, and quality for assigned programs, ensuring schedule certainty and budget delivery while maintaining a strong health, safety, and environmental culture. This position requires a leader capable of optimizing risk mitigation and managing complex operational interfaces within an active, mission-critical environment.

Position Summary:
The Construction Manager is responsible for managing the scope, cost, schedule, and operational interfaces of all design and construction-related activities for the program. This role requires a professional with a solid understanding of the project construction life cycle—from pre-construction and estimating/buyout to phasing, implementation, and closeout. The Construction Manager will ensure that construction work meets all required quality standards and project criteria while coordinating closely with diverse stakeholders to preserve project constraints and objectives.

Key Responsibilities Project & Design Management Support:
• Monitor all on-site field construction activities associated with the completion of the project, applying comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines and installation techniques.
• Ensure construction operations follow approved work plans and Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs), ensuring all proper notifications are made.
• Verify that all work is performed and inspected according to the latest versions of plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
• Monitor budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule to maximize efficiency and meet budget goals.
• Prepare periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for senior management and project leadership.

Construction & Operational Coordination:
• Work with the Construction Contractor and stakeholders to develop the overall planning of construction activities and identify critical milestones and priorities.
• Oversee the construction process to remove and mitigate obstacles that cause inefficiencies in an active operating environment.
• Participate in all necessary coordination meetings with the Construction Contractor, trade partners, and operational stakeholders.
• Ensure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including project labor agreement (PLA) policies.
• Review Contractor Potential Change Order (PCO) claims for merit and negotiate to final resolution.

Risk, Financial & Stakeholder Leadership:
• Lead stakeholder engagement to identify, communicate, and resolve needs while preserving project principles and constraints.
• Ensure the use of sound and safe construction practices to attain required quality control at maximum efficiency and minimum cost.
• Identify possible problem areas and take preventative action to ensure critical milestones are met for each phase of the project.
• Maintain excellent working relationships with design and construction professionals geared toward open communication and mutual problem-solving.

Qualifications Required:
• 10+ years of experience in construction management, with a strong emphasis on large-scale infrastructure or public facility programs (aviation experience preferred).
• Experience with projects exceeding $100 million in value.
• Proven experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, CMAR, and Design-Build.
• Ability to perform in a management capacity within an operating/active environment (aviation, transportation, or public facilities).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam; familiarity with Project Management Information Systems (PMWeb).
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Preferred:
• Master’s degree in a related technical field.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, CCM, LEED, AAAE, AICP, or DBIA.
• Specific experience emphasizing concourse, headhouse, or site/civil scopes of work.
• Experience in assembling KPIs and decisions for Executive Governance and presentations.

Anticipated Salary Range: $154,000.00 – $168,000.00 per year
